Langeoog is located in the North Sea, nine kilometers off the coast, and no cars drive there. Those who know the island understand how that feels: silence prevails. The water tower has stood in the village for over a hundred years, the dunes stretch to the mudflats, and the wind is as much a part of the landscape as the sand itself. This character has taken shape.
The Langeoog Kolter features the water tower and the dune landscape as a woven pattern. Both are part of the thread structure, not a print that fades over the years. What makes Langeoog special remains preserved in the fabric.
An island in limited edition
The Langeoog Kolter is released in a limited edition. The number is fixed, and no more will be produced. It joins a collection of over a hundred cities and towns that Kolter has been manufacturing in Hesse since 2013. Each one bears a motif that makes the place recognizable without explaining it.
The word Kolter dates back to the 15th century and already referred to a woven wool blanket at that time. Nothing has changed about this understanding. The Langeoog Kolter is for everyone who knows the island, and for everyone who wants to get to know it.
Woven in Germany. Not printed. Fiber by fiber.
