About Us
One word. For 600 years.
Kolter is not a product name. It is an old German word for a wool blanket — documented since the 15th century, rooted in Hesse, and now reinterpreted. Since 2013, we have been manufacturing Kolter in Germany. To the highest standards. With conviction.
Woven. Not printed.
Every Kolter is created fiber by fiber in a German weaving mill—not printed, not transferred, but woven. The pattern is part of the fabric itself, inextricably linked to the material. This process is more complex, slower, and more demanding than any alternative. But it is the only way to produce a blanket that is still recognizable years later—by its feel, by the depth of its pattern, by the way it feels.
Inspired by Hesse.
Our roots lie in Hessian textile tradition – a region where weaving was part of everyday life for generations. What used to be commonplace has now become rare: blankets that are not made for one season, but for years. We consciously pick up on this tradition – not as nostalgia, but as an attitude. Reduced in form, careful in execution, durable in material.
Sustainability is not an option — it is part of every Kolter
